Job Summary

SellersFi (the “Company”) is hiring a Sr. Collections Associate on a full-time basis, reporting directly to the Global Collections Manager. The candidate filling this role will be responsible for overseeing collections on all delinquent accounts whilst ensuring best efforts to maximize recoveries via account modifications and restructurings. Additional key responsibilities include liaising with external collection agencies on an as needed basis and frequently monitoring progress. The candidate filling this role will work closely with the delinquent account pipeline in addition to owning all credit dispute processes and responses.

Essential Functions

  • Act as a subject matter expert by collaborating with teams and/or stakeholders to offer guidance, address complex delinquency matters, make informed decisions, and ensure the accuracy and quality of work within the area of collections.
  • Run day-to-day servicing of delinquent accounts in close collaboration with Credit, Compliance, and Operations. This requires keeping track of performance metrics, taking corrective actions, analyzing bottlenecks, and implementing solutions that bring process performance to the next level.
  • Work alongside the Global Collections Manager in Researching, developing, and implementing collection procedures that reduce the number of delinquencies.
  • Oversee the review process of all delinquent accounts to ensure quality, consistency and compliance with collection guidelines and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (when applicable).
  • Take proactive actions to encourage timely debt payments by high-risk clients in close collaboration with Operations.
  • Proactive engagement with collection agencies and specialty law firms on an as needed basis, with the objective of maximizing recoveries from Nonperforming Loans (“NPLs”).
  • Oversee and ensure that the company remains compliant with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C.§1681s-2 by monitoring the timely release of Negative Information Notices on defaulted debtors.
  • Own and manage all credit reporting disputes with the support of the e-Oscar tool provided by Credit Bureaus.
  • Analyze the Company’s collections processes and procedures using a variety of tools such as data analysis, process analysis, process flows and other reference materials to ascertain issues and recommend a fully integrated solution.
  • Manage the accuracy and completion of all delinquent loan reporting (e.g., Aging Report, NPL Recoveries, etc.).
  • Review and maintain NPL files for overall quality (compliance with regulatory requirements, future legal proceedings, bankruptcy proceedings, etc.).
  • Liaise with Risk & Compliance and Operations on all matters related the Customer Complaints & Handling.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all Company’s Policies and Procedures, including but not limited to the Credit Policy & Operating Procedures, Fair Lending Policy, Code of Ethics, AML Policy, Information Security Policies, etc.
  • Remain informed on regulatory changes that may impact digital- and small business lending.
  • Perform other duties with flexibility as assigned.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Operations Management, or equivalent work experience.
    • 3+ years of collections experience, small business lending and/or credit underwriting experience, a plus.
    • Prior experience in a startup environment preferred, but not required.
    • Highly disciplined, with excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
    • Effective communication, both written and verbal with colleagues in a diverse work environment.
    • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations and ability to multi-task.
    • Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills as required in a startup environment with the ability to adapt to a frequently changing and evolving work environment.
    • Computer savvy with a strong proficiency in MS Office Suite applications and tools.
    • Propensity to work independently, take accountability, and own the essential functions of the role.
    • Must have strong time management skills, remain focused, be organized, and meet deadlines, including the ability to adapt to a process driven work environment.
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box.
